I'm reminding myself to put this in my LiveJournal instead of on Facebook. I try to keep my personal political views off of their to respect friends that may disagree.

My LJ, though, is my rant space, so anyone reading is forewarned.

That said, people are fucking sheep. I am ashamed to live in a country where people take their right to free speech and use it to add Hitler's moustache to pictures of the President. People calling his ideas fascist and socialist in the same breath without knowing that they are DIFFERENT things.

My god, people, look up fascism on Wikipedia if anything. Then look up socialism. Look at the differences! EDUCATE YOURSELVES! The ignorance in this country is staggering and painful.

It makes me mad enough that I find I can't say anymore because it wouldn't be coherent. IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS.

I'm sorry to anyone I poofed on chatting tonight. I got home about 9:30pm from work (after a frantic mad-dash leave since I utterly forgot I HAD work today) and have to be back in at 5:15am. I'll probably have to be up by 4am. I just had a bad moment of one too many people catching me at once and I shut down. It's not anyone's fault, I'm just not processing well.

There's no good way to go 'invisible' on Facebook that I've found, either, or I wouldn't have spazzed out and poofed on at least one person there tonight. :/

Home from Otakon. Lots best left unsaid, wasn't the most fun weekend (thank the economy). Tired. Night-night.

ETA: I almost had a crashy moment trying to hook up my computer again when I got home. I didn't realize I was putting my monitor attachment in the wrong place and it wouldn't get signal. Then I had great deals of problems with my wireless network dropping me off and I was not a happy camper. :) All is well otherwise.

I'm just posting a link to the gallery I have on Flickr because I don't feel like stretching out my LJ with the pictures.

Check out Part 3 of Castles In The Air!

Crisis averted. Work responded. My issues with working next week were addressed with 'No problem.' and nothing more. Guess I'd hoped for something a bit more verbal, but, at least there will be no schedule conflicts next week.

I also have no work between now and... whatever gets scheduled for the week after Otakon. *headdesk*

Well, work did it to me again. I have time off planned for next week so I can go to Otakon. Had this set up for weeks... months, even. Got told a few weeks ago that the time off was no problem.

WTFery... HOOOOOOOOO! )

FCPE - Role Playing Gamer

4 Twitch-Fluid, 5 Simple-Complex, 9 Planning-Acting and 7 Entertainment-Difficulty!

In stark contrast to the Action Gamer (TSAD) is the Role Player. FCPE's lack the reflexes or twitchy demeanor, but they excel in other areas. They handle complex menus, maps, and concepts very well, and they utilize them in extremely effective ways. Strategy is the name of the game for FCPE's. They're not looking for a quick fix of rapid violence, they prefer to exploit a weakness, find a key, or unlock a new path. For Role Players, the game itself is as enjoyable as actually playing it.

Games FCPE's like: Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy, Lost Odyssey, Pokémon

FLUID
You have very subtle, smooth movements. Your muscles stay relaxed, even in tense situations. This makes you ideal for games where you have to perform precise movements under pressure such as shooters and racing games. Your thumbs glide over the controller and you are probably one the better shots on your team in Call of Duty or even can do fairly well in a racing game you've never played because you don't make the car spin out of control. But you also don't do as well with games that require a faster touch. Most hardcore action games and fighting games will give you a hard time because the other players can input the moves a lot faster than you can. And you probably can't tap the button fast enough to blow up your balloon in Mario Party.

COMPLEX
The more the better is your motto. You want your games to be a nuanced and varied as you are. You don't mind shuffling through an extra menu or two or learning a couple more combos. If it will add depth to the game and give you more freedom, bring it on! You've probably debated on more than one occasion why can't Pokemon have more than four moves at a time. Or you've committed yourself to learning Zangeif's entire moveset, just to be that much better for the next match. You enjoy managing money, stats and equipment, making your team or army or city bigger, better, and badder. And you're always looking for a new way to complete a task. You also tend to lose interest or generally have trouble with simpler games, as you become frustrated or confused by the lack of things in your control.

PLANNING
When it comes to the actual act of playing, you're a no-frills flawless machine. It's a good thing that video game characters don't actually carry all the stuff in your inventory, because they'd probably suffocate underneath it all! You've got your armies all highly trained and equipped with rocket launchers and jeeps with gatling guns. You didn't even have to be in the same room as your PS2 to finish the final boss of Final Fantasy XII. You're prepared for anything because you've got it all figured out ahead of time. But even the best plans backfire sometimes and that's where your weakness shines through. You're so used to having enough healing potions that when you actually run out you're a sitting duck.

ENTERTAINMENT
You play mostly for the fun of the game. Whether its the story, the gameplay, or just the overall feel of the game, something about it draws you in. You'll find yourself popping a game in years after you completed it to revisit the characters, locales, and gameplay. You probably own at least a few game soundtracks and maybe a few posters. You appreciate games as art and a way to pass the time. You may also play competitively (either professionally or amateur) but that's not the reason you'll be playing them 40 years from now.

Your result for Roleplayer Test!...

The Biographer

Plotful, Character-Oriented, Platonic

Like the Portraitist, the development of your character is the most important thing to you when you roleplay. However, you like your development and relationships to have some kind of overarching plot: you're not the type to enjoy a dressing room or any kind of roleplay where your character can't grow in at least a semi-structured manner. You enjoy exploring your character's psyche, but simple exploration isn't enough: you like to discover and then implement and use, and therefore continuity (which gives you "why"s and "how"s) is very important to you. You struggle when your character has no solid base in which to put down its roots, such as in games where there isn't enough structure or ones where the plot is continually changing.

First of all, interview on Thursday went well. At least it did within my estimation of things. Very informal, music playing in the background, myself far overdressed but complimented on looking nice. Should know more in the coming week, I hope.

Secondly, I finally got more done on my big cross-stitch project. I'd had to go back and redo the original fabric, changing it from 'antique' white to plain white. But, part 2 is done and now I can finish part 3 while part 4 is inexplicably delayed. Warning, image heavy below the cut. :)

Pretty stitches this way... )

I'll get more pictures when part 3 is done. :)

I have an INTERVIEW! Not just a phonecall to discuss things (that was today) but an INTERVIEW! 2pm on Thursday and things look -very- good.

I also got my smaller size (3x vs 4x) pants today and they fit! A little loose where needed but not falling off my keister loose!

I had nothing but sympathy for the lady I talked to at the possi-job today. She had not called me back because, on Friday, she had KNEE SURGERY. She just got back to work today! I can certainly empathize, my knees started aching for her. XD

Anyway, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Keep good thoughts. I had a bite today on a resume I submitted after finding a posting on Craigslist. The job is just over the mountain from me in Crozet. (No joke, I could get there in under half an hour from my house.) Playing a teensy bit of phone tag at the moment but I have hope. First nibble I've had in months.

When the Tiananmen Square riots happened in 1989, I was 11 going on 12. I could only watch without comprehension at the deepest levels of what was going on. I was too young to truly grasp what was going on there. It was a piece of history I had to read for myself later when I had the chance.

Now I'm watching more history take place in Iran. It's not history I can escape seeing anything about, either. Compared to twenty years ago the technological advances we've made are making it very hard to ignore what's going on. I just caught the video of a young woman's last moments after having been shot. It will likely stand as a symbol of this time much the same way as the young man standing before the tanks in Tiananmen Square.

It's a waiting game, now. Wait and see what happens. The world is watching.

Depressed as I am about work and other things in my life, I have not been eating more than usual. In fact, I'm eating less.

It's with a bitter irony that I note that I have hit one of my first weight loss markers and dropped significantly below 350. Guess it's because I have more important things to stress over than my waistline.

I might as well put most of this under a cut. I doubt a lot of folks will want to read about my work crap plus I have a feeling I'll go a little off-color writing this.

So... about that pay raise.... )
