History on parade.
21 June 2009 15:44When the Tiananmen Square riots happened in 1989, I was 11 going on 12. I could only watch without comprehension at the deepest levels of what was going on. I was too young to truly grasp what was going on there. It was a piece of history I had to read for myself later when I had the chance.
Now I'm watching more history take place in Iran. It's not history I can escape seeing anything about, either. Compared to twenty years ago the technological advances we've made are making it very hard to ignore what's going on. I just caught the video of a young woman's last moments after having been shot. It will likely stand as a symbol of this time much the same way as the young man standing before the tanks in Tiananmen Square.
It's a waiting game, now. Wait and see what happens. The world is watching.
