Cross-stitch ahoy!

I finally got the first part of my cross-stitch project done. Now I can consider the second part as well as adding a beading needle to my project box for it. My thread needles have too big of an eye for the beads I want to use. That's okay, though, since I'm leaving the beads until later anyway.
This is the first photo I took of the finished project. It was sitting on my knee with the bulk of the remaining fabric tucked below it. The fabric, before trimming, could have covered the entire width of my full size futon. Just an idea of scale.

Second picture, moved a bit of a ways down onto the bed. I had to do a bunch of image crap to these. My lights and the paint in my room turn all my photos butter yellow (it's not the camera, trust me).

Stitch close-up number one. Metallic thread is a pain.

Stitch close-up 2. I love these colors.

For an interesting comparison, here's the BACK of the project.

Zoom in on the back.

Just a fun one for perspective and getting some of the macro function on my camera to actually work.
I found a pic of the actual thread colors to give an idea just how washed-out the colors/light in my room made this.

For anyone who is curious, this is Castles In The Air from www.papillon-creations.com. 18ct Antique White Aida. I plan to shunt one of these pics off to their website to add to the gallery (hope I make it!).

2009-04-25 23:26 (UTC)Cross stitch is fun and relatively easy to pick up. I know Michael's and A.C. Moore carry small kits that are good for beginners. :) And there are TONS of websites for more ideas. :)
