I don't often pass along news stories that I read about on my flist. This time, I'm making an exception because this is galling. Information garnered from
filkertom this afternoon.
Original Story: recordonline.com - "Updated: 'The Question' causes furor at local high school'
Article linked on flist that lead me to it: Why it’s too much trouble to educate girls past the 5th grade
What are people thinking? Honestly? Are we so paranoid and uptight about our security that we have to make everyone's life more difficult? The stupidity knows know bounds.
And the girls standing up for themselves kick ass. Rock on, little women.

2007-09-29 22:18 (UTC)Alot of schools don't allow nontransparent backpacks.
Most I've subbed at don't issue books anymore the room holds the books since kids can't really carry them.
What is annoying about all the various rude and inconvenient "security" measures is that anyone who takes a good hard balanced look at them will find that they don't really help security at all. At best give the illusion, and at worst just waste everyone's time.
