I don't often pass along news stories that I read about on my flist. This time, I'm making an exception because this is galling. Information garnered from filkertom this afternoon.

What are people thinking? Honestly? Are we so paranoid and uptight about our security that we have to make everyone's life more difficult? The stupidity knows know bounds.

And the girls standing up for themselves kick ass. Rock on, little women.

So glad I don't have to goto school now a days.
Alot of schools don't allow nontransparent backpacks.
Most I've subbed at don't issue books anymore the room holds the books since kids can't really carry them.
What is annoying about all the various rude and inconvenient "security" measures is that anyone who takes a good hard balanced look at them will find that they don't really help security at all. At best give the illusion, and at worst just waste everyone's time.

I'm glad I don't have to go to school either. I'm glad I got out of school before things started getting rabid. Roosevelt was bad enough at times.

And you're right, measures like that do waste everyone's time. If a kid's going to bring a weapon to school, he'll find a way.
